I cannot believe I haven't blogged about Africa yet. Anybody who knows me, knows that I will one day, go to Africa. I don't know when, I don't know with who, I don't know much right now, but all I know is that I will. This is not even a want in my life at this point, it's seriously become a need. Hmm... you know what? After a teensy bit of thinking, I only really came up with ONE reason as to why I haven't talked about Africa on my blog yet.

The reason? Well, how do you really go about talking about something that you want SO bad, but can't even manage to put into words? Seriously. Everything about Africa excites me. EVERYTHING. I feel like when I go to help, my life will begin to feel complete. I don't know if I'll be helping in a school, with women, on crops? I have no idea. Originally, I wanted to go with this organization where you stay in someones house and help with their cropping and farming. In return, they give you shelter and other thaaangs. It's not that I'm not considering this option anymore, I just know that there are sooo many different organizations, groups, you name it, that can help you go to Africa and get the most experience from your trip. I feel like I will go ONCE for sure. If I don't go back again a second time, it's only because the timing, the money or the situation isn't exactly working for me. There's no way I wouldn't go to Africa more than once if I could. I already know this. I feel like my heart is in Africa. I don't even know what more I can say right now. I feel like I can talk about Africa for hours and watch 10 million documentaries and still not get enough!

I was reading about Africa online the other day. Random facts, stories, the whole deal. I came across this one story that this girl wrote and it just made me upset that I haven't even gone yet! So, this woman took a trip with her fiance to Kenya and she was talking about the generosity of the Kenyan people. She goes on about how so many of the women came out of their mud huts with tea and bread to offer to their new found friends. This story struck me because she said they barely had anything, but were always offering, and more than happy to do so. She menioned how sometimes, the women even served them full meals. And they acted as if it was an honor to give what little they had to serve someone else.

Now, I don't know about you, but oh how I wish I could be more like them! I'm a greedy mofo if you compare me to these women in Kenya. Giving their all to make somebody else smile.

If people in Canada had HALF the heart and generosity of the people in Kenya, this world would be well on it's way. But uhh, it isn't, sooo whatev.

I'm pretty sure I'll be visiting Ghana when I go to Africa. Not sure which city (hopefully near Accra), but it sure seems Kenya would be nice, too!

High School Global Premiere

Nicki had a new music video that came out today! It had it's GLOBAL premiere at 10:53 AM this morning. I was at work, but when I got home, I was sure to check it out. I was so excited when I found out that it was going to be for, "High School," which features Lil Wayne because it is one of my favourite songs from The Re-Up!! My other favourite song on the album is "Hell Yeah," which features her first artist who is signed to her very own, still unnamed, Record Label!

Guess what I found out during the video? NICKI WILL SOON RELEASE AN ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE! It's called, "Myx." Even comes in this pretty little blue bottle; though I am very surprised to see the bottles aren't PINK! (Bottle shown on last photo on this post).

For those wondering why Nicki calls everything, "Pink Friday," (her CD's, her perfume and very likely her upcoming clothing line and Record Label), it's because she wants it to become a BRAND, which it is. She isn't doing what Wayne did with Carter I, Carter II, Carter III, Carter IV and Carter V. Just to be clear.

Nicki has been doing incredible and I'm so proud! Aside from releasing her third album, she is currently working on her fourth album, designing her own clothing line, she is in the process of writing a book, starting a College Tuition fund, she released her own perfume, a deluxe edition of her perfume is currently being shipped to stores worldwide and she is doing all of this while being a rep for Pepsi (beverage), Adidas (clothing), Nokia (cellphone), OPI (nail polish), Casio's (digital camera) and Mac (cosmetics)! She has two signature colours in her MAC Cosmetics line and every cent goes towards a fund for HIV and Aids. Remember, she's also a judge on American Idol right now, too! Last year, she even hit another record. She became the first female solo artist to have SEVEN hit singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, at the same time. BUT, let me stop bragging for Nicki and check out these screen shots from the video.

"If you love something, then let it go."

I have never understood the phrase, "If you love something, then let it go." NO! It doesn't work like that. If you love something, you fight for it. You make the effort to keep it. You don't just it let go. Why? Because "it" had your attention for some time before. Psycho sounding? Maybe a little, but I can explain. When I say don't give up, I mean don't let it go until you realize that there is absolutely nothing left for you to do. You're at your wits end. You're done? You're tired? You're the only one working for it? THAT is when you let it go. For clarification, that's not letting something go because you love it. That's letting it go because you're sick of being the only one trying. Simply put, you let it go because you're tired. You let it go because it wasn't worth it anymore. I hate bullshit quotes. The quote I wrote above, is the real reason people let something they love, go. And let me stop calling it "something." It's usually "someone."

This does not refer to me in any way. Just thinking of conversations my friends and I have had, whether they are local or away. The quote just came to my head and it called for a post. Posted. Check!

Learn to work, to pay, then pass.

So, while things are randomly sitting here on my mind, I thought I'd jot them down.

Let me get this right... We spend the first few years of our lives learning basic shit. After this, we eventually enter Kindergarten where you learn the required skills for grade 1, where you learn the required skills for grade 2, where you learn the required skills for grade 3... You see where I'm going with this. By the time half of us graduate from high school, we have NO clue what we would like to do. Some of us think we have it figured out by grade 10, but then you lose that by the time you grad (usually). Anyways, what I'm getting at here, is you learn, to work, to pay, then pass on.

I kind of hate the fact that I was so excited to be done with high school, then went off to college (after my vacation, of course). I graduated and what do I do? Move home and start another college. I'm glad I'm making progress, don't get me wrong, but sometimes I just want to wake up and have NOTHING to worry about. No stress. How beautiful would that be? I totally regret taking this for granted in grade 9... my biggest God damn fricken problem at the time was my mom or dad asking me to do the dishes. At the time, felt like nothing was going my way and I had sooo much to worry about. When really, I didn't. How selfish of me. *shakes head* My ONLY thing to worry about in grade 9 was going to my classes and passing them. Which was not hard to do. I didn't even have to worry about waking up every morning from my alarm clock, because my mom would call to wake me! We take sooo much for granted EVERY year of our lives and don't realize it. In grade 9, I didn't have to worry about groceries, bills, nothing. I feel like I'm getting to the point in my life now where I will eventually own a home (and a vehicle), then work the rest of my life away. Not only will I be working, but I'll be paying off bills. For another 60+ years. How exciting. We are born to learn as we grow older, incorporate the knowledge gained, towards our career. With this career, we make money, to pay bills. Ughh. I just want to work forever and not pay for anything and be able to say I'm a millionaire by the time I'm 50. Wishful thinking and my point is going nowhere. Basically, I don't want to buy a home in 10+ years, then pay it off until I'm 60!

Okay. Breathe.

Theennnnn agggaaainn, what kind of life would you be living if you sat on the couch every day or didn't learn anything new? ...Life. *sigh*

Money. Wealth. Richasspeople.

Okay. Can you imagine making $73,000,000,000 a year? That's 73 billion, for those of you who are getting googley-eyed, thanks to all the zero's. Like, it's crazy to even think that you can physically have that much money... imagine all those fresh printed bills every year. Wow. If you do the math, that means you would be getting $6,083,333,333 every MONTH! And a little more math, if you don't mind, works out to say that you would be making TWO HUNDRED AND TWO MILLION DOLLARS A DAY!!

Seems very unrealistic for somebody like me, but not for Carlos Slim. Carlos is a Mexican business magnate, investor and philanthropist. I read up a bit on what he does, but to be honest, it's too much for me to get completely. He seems to do a LOT.

I don't know why I decided to find out who the "20 Richest People in the World" were, but in case you were wondering, Oprah did not even make the list. To show you how filled with money some people are, the 20th richest man, is Larry Page. (Don't know who he is? Do you use Google? Okay, you can thank him for that). He makes 23 BILLION, a year.

Do you understand what I'm getting at? You can literally buy a fancy ass house and a brand new vehicle (Toyota i-ROAD, anyone?) for all your relatives and still have a LOT left over for the next generation aaand even the generation after that! It is all about how you spend your money though, of course. But still. I just want a billion. ONE billion. Anybody?

Carlos should just send one million $1,000,000 cheques in the mail. That wouldn't even put a dent in his bank account. Carlos, or anybody from his business, if you're reading this and need my address, I will gladly send it to you as soon as possible. :) I can't even get this out of my head. Once again, he makes 202 MILLION DOLLARS a DAY... Damn.

New blog title!

This post is just for myself, basically. (To remember the date). I've changed my blog from jenniferbolton.blogspot.com to jmarielake.blogspot.com. I hope whoever had my blog saved, changes the name!

Also, I use to post the name of my blog over photos. Old photos will STILL have "jenniferbolton.blogspot.com" written on them, but oh well! There is no way I'm going to fix all of the photos, lol. What's the point?!

Busting My Balls

I AM BUSTING MY BALLS TO GET WHAT I WANT AND I WILL GET IT. All these damn barriers and walls standing up in my way, but it's worth the work to get 'er done! I cannot wait until I complete this goal of mine. Urghh, it's killing me, but it will be worth it and it is definitely needed! *sigh* Vent of the day.

Mothers Day / Right By My Side

I CANNOT believe how easy it is for me to abandon this blog! I use to love coming on here every single day and I'm pretty upset that I don't anymore. I always think about it and feel like I have nothing to blog about, but nooow, I feel like I haven't blogged in so long that there is too much to write!

First of all, Happy (belated) Mothers Day to all those mothers (and single fathers) out there. I gave my momma a pride necklace. :) It included my dads name, brothers name, my own name, Akim's name, Gizmo's name aaand of course Chaplynn! She loved it. It's silver and beside each of our names, it's got our birth stone next to it. Very pretty. My dad got up SUPER early to cook for her, then we attended my Granny Georgina's headstone placing and later we had THEE BEST barbecue. I think I may still be drooling over that.

I know how much everybody loves how much I talk about Nicki Minaj on my blog *waits for people to roll eyes* She is suppose to be coming out with her new music video this week. YEP! Already! She juuust came out with the "Starships" video on April 27th -- it's only 17 days since then and she'll be releasing "Right By My Side" with Chris Brown. It's suppose to make it's world premiere today, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't actually until Wednesday or so. She says this is her favourite video yet, I can't wait!

Also! Since I'm talking about her... Her PEPSI commercial has been released since I last blogged and besides her two books and North American tour which are in the works, she's working on a fragrance (out in a month) and a clothing line! She sounds busy, busy, busy.

Classes are going great! Only three weeks left then I have a few weeks off before starting my third trimester. STOKED. It's all going so fast, yet so good.

I will blog more later or tomorrow for SURE. I just felt I needed to stop by or I would have never posted again!

STARSHIPS, CANADA?, BOOKS, TEASER

Helloooo. SO. Holy eff. Just found out today that Nicki has been working on 2 new books. I'm pretty excited to buy these and read them! Of course we all know that her album is out in a few more weeks -- April 3rd. She'll be having a signing on the same day in LA and the next day in New York. If you wish to buy me a plane ticket to New York so I can have a meet & greet and signing, feel free. Nah, let's get serious. Apparently she's going to a few other places, so I can't wait to hear where those will be. NONE will be in Canada, I know this for sure. Apparently though, she was not going to tour anywhere in Canada with her 2nd CD, which almost had me falling into a depression, haha. BUT I did find out that the places may change and she MAY come to Canada. I would be the first to buy a ticket, I'm dead serious!!

But aside from her 2 new books which are in the works, she also finished up shooting her music video for "Starships." I told you guys this song would blow up and with a music video coming -- it's guaranteed to happen x2 now. Here is a photo teaser from her on-set!

 And the last two things today will beeee that she's got another song with Madonna and it's titled, "I Don't Give A." And 2 other songs from her new album will be leaked sometime this week! I will post as soon as I know. Though, I am starting to think I should post less about Nicki on my blog. Anyways. Nicki, Nicki, Nicki!

Okay, so I sat here for a couple hours deciding on what I should blog about and I finally came to my decision. Nicki Minaj. I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am for her 2nd album. For those of you who don't know, the date is April 3rd 2012 and the title is "Roman Reloaded." I have a few of the leaked songs already and they aren't too bad -- but I think songs such as Roman's Holiday (which she performed at the BET Awards) and Stupid Hoe should have been left off of the album. I have told Ehryn and my mom that "Stupid Hoe" reminds me of a song that I would have listened to in grade 9 when I hated a chick for nothing. I agree that it's TOTALLY a Nicki song, obviously, I just think that it should have just been released as song, rather than part of any of her albums. But aside from these two songs, I have glanced at the Track List to see what he songs will be titled and they sound interesting -- I cannot wait to hear all of the tracks! Just 2 days ago, Funkmaster Flex released "Roman Reloaded" which is a song featuring Lil Wayne. I'm sure there will be more than one song with Wayne on it, but I was pretty excited to hear that she has a song the name of the album. I've always thought it was pretty neat and made sense that you would have a song the name of your album. But enough of her album, let's get to more Nicki News!

She currently has a Pepsi commercial in the works and I pray that this will be shown on Canadian television! Although I have no idea whether or not this commercial will be aired on Canadian TV, I do know that this is suppose to hit television screens in April. This is the same month as her 2nd album release, which makes that a smart move. Very smart move. Apparently this was shot in Argentina and there will be a reference to her song "Moment for Life." How this song relates to drinking Pepsi? I have no idea, but we will have to wait and see!

Ester Dean (the voice of the course on Nicki's "SUPER BASS" song), released a song called Gimme Money... and this song features Nicki. It sounds pretty great, but I don't hear it much! I guess not many people know about it yet? I mean, I DO live in Canada. We hear shit a month after the States has it. Same with STARSHIPS. I think this song of Nicki's is just marvelous. I never use the word marvelous, that shows you how great the song must be. Starships is definitely going to be one of those hit singles -- it's totally a dance song and it'll be played at clubs, bars and parties everywhere!

More news? Okay. The hit song "Turn Me On" by Nicki was number 5 on the music charts last week and "Give Me All Your Luvin" by Madonna ft. Nicki Minaj and MIA, jumped all the way from #11 to #1! (The Superbowl WILL do that to ya!) This made Nicki Minaj the FIRST FEMALE RAPPER to have/be featured in 2 simultaneous top 5 hits in CANADA. I thought it was pretty neat.

Oh. Before I forget. This isn't the only "First" for Nicki in 2012. Remember me mentioning her Pepsi commercial? She is also the First Female Rapper to ever have her own Pepsi commercial. Nicki's on a creep-up and she isn't going anywhere any time soon!

Nicki's latest collab is with Tyga, who released his album "Rise of the Last King" five days ago (February 20th 2012). This song is called "Muthafucka Up." In this song, Nicki KILLS the beat with her verse! Is that surprising though? Really? You gotta take a listen if you haven't already.

On February 16th, Lil Kim was trying to be funny and called Nicki Minaj a "Stupid Hoe" on television. I don't know why Kim feels she has to open her big mouth when you never hear her making music anymore! Last time I checked, she's still making music, but none of it's going anywhere. As if she hasn't been owned enough already by Nicki, she had to go and diss her on live TV? Really? Whatever. Nicki's gonna hit Kim with a burn so bad that she'll stop even using Nicki's name. Just like Eminem did with Mariah. God, that chick suffered bad for her words towards him. Lesson learned.

You ever feel like your head is just going to explode? That's how I've  been feeling lately and it sucks. It literally feels like it will explode, like I feel pain once in awhile and when it's not pain, it's almost pain? It's like an emotional pain I guess, but in my head? NOT making sense. But I don't know. I just needed somewhere to write my anger and frustration for now because I don't know how much longer I can take this. I always feel like I'll be fine, then something goes and piles onto my plate again. I just wish I could relax and not do ANYTHING for like a week. Nobody talking to me, nobody asking me anything, nobody touching me, just letting me lay there to do nothing. Boy, that'd be nice. I hope I calm down soon because I hate this feeling and I don't even know how to talk about it. I thought by me writing on here would relieve some stress, but nope. I don't know what to do.

Craziest name in the world? I think so!

Now. I'm going to start this post off by saying that nowadays, everybody comments on bizarre celebrity baby names. ALL the time. I was only going to do my post about the guy who got arrested who had the BIZAAAARRE name. I think it would be in the running or would win craziest name in the world! His legal name, according to police in Wisconsin, is Beezow Doo-Doo Zopittybop-Bop-Bop. I AM NOT KIDDING YOU. Copy and paste his name if you want and search it. It wasn't an internet scam or anything because a number of legit News sites and News shows talked about this. This name may have just come from an alternate world where if you're raised by Bill Cosby and refuse to eat your dinner, you're gettin' a strange name as a punishment. Sounds legit to me. Stupid Hoe!

I was meaning to write an entry yesterday when the music video came out. I remember reading the release date for this a few months ago & remember that it was to be released on the exact day that Emmerson is 6 months old. Anyways, I got busy yesterday and didn't have time to blog. Boo. I've said it before and I'll say it again -- I HATE not blogging! :( I feel like when I blog, it just relives so much stress. And BOY, have I been stressed out lately. It's the kinda stress where the more I don't do anything, the more stressed I get, but do not have the energy to do what I should be doing! I hope I'm making sense?

Back to the music video. I got off topic... Woops! It's for Nicki Minaj's song "Stupid Hoe." It's another Lil' Kim Diss; shocking? Nah. The only reason I remembered the date of the release is probably because it's Nicki. Who can you blame for loving her, realllllly? My first thought of this music video (since I already heard the leaked song), was that it was weird. But if it were "normal" or boring, it wouldn't be Nicki! As for the MUSIC? The actual song itself? It sounds like something you'd write about someone when you're 18 years old. But it still works! Also, I don't think we'll ever see a music video of hers when she doesn't change into more than 3 outfits. The transition from the leopard(?) face to her face was really neat! It made me want to try the transition for myself in editing. But I didn't. :) Oh, and you already know there's gonna be some big bootie showing! That's got Nicki written all over it.

School? Christmas. 2012!

SOOO. I got accepted to start college again. :) It's a different program, different school, whole different direction. I will be starting classes on January 3rd, 2012. TWO THOUSAND TWELVE (HOLY EFF). I got accepted into AECE at College of New Caledonia in Mackenzie. I will be doing this schooling online, but I'm so freaking excited for it. The thing I'm happiest about is if I keep my head where it needs to be, I can confidently (and hopefully) say that I will be graduated from two different schools with two different college degrees by the time I'm 22! :) When I graduated high school, I never ever thought I'd be on the path that I'm on today. I'm so happy with the way everything is going. My family and friends are nothing but supportive in everything that I do. Well, the important things, anyway! Some of them don't support that I get tattoos, but I'm sorry. LOL. While I'm off topic, I may as well just talk about how Christmas is literally RIGHT around the corner. Akim is spoiled rotten this year and he better be happy! I bought my mom the perfect gift, same with my dad, brother, grandma, baba, Emmerson, Ehryn, etc. I wish I could be here to see my God son open gifts for the first time ever, but I know there will be many more years where I get to sit and watch. :) I'm really happy that we're going to Rupert though. Akim has been there tons of times with me, but we haven't been there for a Christmas dinner. We've had tons of dinners with the Rupert family, but that's not the point! On top of all of this, Emmerson is growing up strong, happy and healthy! It's been kind of a rough year, I guess (the beginning), but I can't wait to start 2012. I really hope this vibe keeps up for most of the coming year. Not sure if I will be blogging in the next week or so, not only because I'm pro at abandoning my blog, but because I will be SUPER busy. Maybe I'll try to blog from my Blackberry while I'm in Rupert. That all depends though on what I end up doing while I'm there. I know the DAY I get there, I'm probably gonna re-twist Akims locks for like 6 hours, lol. But I've come to say everything I thought I would. I hope everybody has a VERY Merry Christmas and a Happy and SAFE New Years! 2012!

Karmin Tribute

Oh. My. Goodness. I haven't blogged in so long and I'm upset with myself for that. I was browsing videos on YouTube and I just HAVE to post this. Now, of course by this time, you all have heard about Karmin (and/or KarminMusic). She raps videos on YouTube and what really got her known is when she appeared on Ellen, which then got her so much recognition that she was asked to perform at the BET Awards 2011. Aside from them rapping "Look At Me Now," which happens to have approx. 50 million views on YouTube, they rap tons of other things that I'm sure you listen to.

Anyways, this entry wasn't even suppose to be about them, lol, there are a couple people who I came across on YouTube who did a tribute to Karmin with "Look At Me Now." It's ACTUALLY not that bad! There are so many people who attempt to do it, and it's like, ummm... no.

But check it out! I think if anything ruins the song, it's the guy playing guitar because when it gets closer to Eminems verse (last verse), the guitar does not seem in sync. But who cares! I think it's decent and I just think they deserved some recognition for their very successful attempt.

I'm SO behind, it's not even funny! Hopefully I can update this and start keeping up to date because blogging to me is like therapy (I think?) It just makes me feel so good after I do it because my thoughts come down, or I just blab about things/events/celebrities, whatever is going on that I find interesting and it's just nice time to myself.
