6:47AM. That's the time I woke up at this morning. Now, this wasn't just like any other day or uh, awakening, for that matter. I woke up to the sound of the fire alarm; at my Grans house. This is where I stayed last night... Me and my cousin were here while my Gran and Baba were outta town for the weekend. But anyways, when I woke up, I couldn't hear the alarm anymore. I thought it was part of my dream - but uh, I wasn't dreaming. When I realized it was coming from the house, I opened the door and oh MAN! There was smoke everywhere!
My cousin was sleeping on the living room couch, which was only about 20 steps away. The smoke was so thick and there was so much that I couldn't even see him! I started panicing, I grabbed my cell phone and looked in the kitchen where the smoke was coming from - there was no fire. There was a pot of food on the stove that was burning BAD, which was so close to catching fire; but I'm sooo thankful that I caught it on time. I took it off the burner, turned the burner off and started working on getting all the smoke outta the house. And like I said before; it was EVERYWHERE!!
It still felt like a dream. I opened up all the doors and windows in the house; and it was freezing cold because there was snow outside and I didn't know how to get the wood-stove working. Eventually the smoke ended up getting out of the house but you can still smell the burning stuff. My cousin who tried cooking? The one who was sleeping on the couch? He ended up going out to drink and I guess when he put the food on the stove, he forgot about it & yeah. By time all of this was done, it was about 8:15AM. I had to work at 10, so I didn't see a point in going back to bed. I stayed up but I was still shaky and everything from what just happened. I felt my asthma kicking in but I didn't have my inhailer so I just focused on my breathing. Glad I was okay. My cousin that was on the couch? He was sleeping the WHOLE time!
